When you first get your G Shock watch, it may beep now and then. After a few months, it starts beeping a few seconds after midnight. Irrespective of whether you’re awake or asleep, it just happens.
This happens even when there is no alarm set or any indication of an upcoming alarm on the screen.
If this is the exact issue you are having with your G-Shock, continue reading.
In this article, you’ll learn why this occurs and how to fix it without spending any money.
Two Reasons Why Your Casio Watch Beeps At Midnight
The Signal Mode is ON
Most Casio watches come with a nifty feature to let you capture time easily. This feature is called the ‘Signal Mode’.
When you activate this function on your Casio watch, your timepiece beeps at the top of every hour.
This hourly time signal is beneficial if you’re very busy and want to remind yourself about the time constantly. However, it can also be a nuisance too for the people around you.
Check if the Signal Mode is activated on your G-Shock. Usually, when it is activated, you’ll see a ‘SIG’ abbreviation on the screen.
If this Mode is ON, you need to deactivate it to stop the watch signaling at the top of every hour.
The Alarm is set
In most cases, if the beeping lasts longer than ten seconds, there is an alarm that has been activated.
You may have unknowingly set an alarm on your timepiece. Casio G-Shock watches usually come with a default alarm time already set.
If you want to stop the beeping, you must reset all the alarms on your Casio G-Shock.
The instruction manual that comes with your timepiece is the best source of information about the alarm mode.
What to do if your Casio watch is beeping
If your G-Shock watch keeps beeping at midnight, there are several things you can try.
First, try deactivating all alarms on the Casio watch. Most times, the alarm is active and set to 00:00. Some had success after resetting all alarms to a different time before deactivating them.
Second, deactivate the hourly chime. This totally eliminates the issue of beeps at the top of every hour including a midnight beep.
